Degree Requirements

The Master of Engineering in Computational Engineering degree requires students to complete 32 credit hours of graduate coursework, consisting of courses in areas listed below.  The program is designed to be completed in one year (up to three semesters with full-time enrollment), but students are also permitted to pursue the degree part-time with a maximum time limit of 5 years to finish the degree.

Core Courses : Complete a minimum one course from each of the following areas.

  • Applied math course chosen from approved list.

  • Computational Methods course chosen from approved list

  • Parallel/Ubiquitous Computing course chosen from approved list.

Other Requirements and Conditions (may overlap):
  • A minimum of 20 credit hours must be taken from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus.
  • A minimum of 12 500-level credit in the concentration, with at least 8 credit hours in the core concentration.
  • No courses used to fulfill any degree requirements may be taken using the "Credit/No Credit" option.
  • The minimum program GPA is 3.0.
